Amidst the recent political debates, you may have felt as disinterested as I did. It's not because I don't care about the future of our country. Rather, it's because I've lost faith in the men and women that lead our country. It seems no one strives to make a difference once the ballots have been counted. Or maybe it's because our government has become so big and powerful, the men and women who try to make a difference are snuffed out by the professional politicians and men with deep pockets.

It seems the constant bickering between Democrats, Republicans, and the Tea Party folks is dividing our country rather than uniting it. You would think that in a progressive society, we would cherish lessons learned from the past and build upon them; not waste our time trying to disprove them or by telling ourselves the teachers weren't fully informed. I'm talking about one of the most famous phrases in American history; a phrase that perhaps adorns the offices of many of the Congress men and women now so venomously divided.

"A house divided against itself, cannot stand," said Mr. Lincoln.

Remember our past. Remember our teachers. Don't reverence them in one breath and then dishonor them in the next by thinking you know the real answer to the puzzle.

I'll be honest - when we moved back to Utah after a summer in the beautiful Denver area, I was a little disappointed. As we drove through SLC, the city we once thought was so cool, now looked a little dull. The buildings that once captured our imagination, now only reminded us of the fond memories we had in Colorado. But after strolling the streets of SLC, during breaks to keep me from going blind from staring at a computer screen, I realized just how beautiful the city is. You may find the same beauty in your own city. Just look.

The great Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." Like Picasso, I think too many of us lose our childhood ambition to create and inspire. Of course, there are a few lucky ones who can make a living with their creativity. But for most of us, our creativity is swept under the rug and our ideas hidden in a darkened closet.

My Lovely and I want to help write new endings to these sad tales. In the coming weeks, we will launch Twig, a creative site that will not only showcase our own creativity, but yours as well. Everyone, from the stay-at-home mom to the established artist, will have a chance to have their work and their creativity featured on Twig - all at no cost. So if you're trying to revive your childhood artist or simply trying to get your name out there, email us your submission at twigcreative [at] gmail [dot] com. You know, when my Lovely and I moved to Boulder a few months ago to work at CP+B, my head was bursting with thoughts of the cool products and brands I'd be able to work on. You can imagine then how surprised I was to find out I would spend a lot of my time making a giant hair ball.

I'm not kidding - a giant 6 ft. afro! It turns out the project was for the annual CP+B summer party, fittingly themed 'Hair'. Here is the proof - step by step.

You would think that someone who works in a creative field would never 'uncreative'. Well, it happens. It happens to me. Thankfully, my Lovely and her family were able to get out this weekend and enjoy the sites of a quiet, nearby town. Although I do not consider myself a photographer, it's fun to pretend. Capturing the details of the day was exactly what I needed to recapture my creativity.

Friends, I'm not in Kansas anymore, or Utah for that matter. My lovely family has packed up and moved to the hip, entrepreneurial, dog loving, bicycle riding Boulder, Colorado. What are we doing here? Well, I'm interning at the hottest shop around - Crispin Porter + Bogusky. It's incredible to be surrounded by so much creativity. But if "designers block" does creep in, I can always hop on a factory bike or big wheel, or slide down a fire pole.

Kitchen Solutions

Okay guys and gals, thank you to those who participated in developing a solution to this common problem. After some thought, I have narrowed the possible solutions down to 3. They are as follows:

1- A dinner table with a small fridge built into the middle that houses commonly used, and often forgotten items, such as butter, salt and pepper, salad dressing, etc.

2- A serving platter that acts as a relationship building "board game." The platter, filled with delicious food, will remain locked until members of the family can answer questions about their family, provided by the game.

3- An electronic screen, with a built-in webcam, that attaches to the fridge. Although everyone has different schedules, they can record brief messages about their day onto the device. Others members of the family can then view the messages at a later time and keep up to date with everyone in the family.

The Social Kitchen Project

So do you remember a few months back when Lovely mentioned that I was "embarking on a new stream of ideas, ideas from you, brought to reality, to make your life more pleasant?" My first "embarkment" was a hit - you remember, The Baby Project. Well I'm undertaking a new project, and I NEED YOUR HELP ... again!

So let's start with a question: What tool, appliance, or furniture item could be developed, produced, or improved for the kitchen that improves social interaction between your family?

I think we can all agree that there is a lot of noise that distracts us from time with our family - especially during dinner time. (Guilty as charged). So let's think of a way to change it, or at least improve it. Please leave your comments, suggestions, and ideas.

The Convenient Crib

What better way to kick off Black Friday than to unveil our new crib? You may remember my first attempt at building a crib for our new baby. It was good, but this one is great! Many of the changes were inspired by you! Let me tell you about it:

The front panel is now equipped to slide up and down; perfect for getting smaller babies in and out of the crib. The bottom half is stationary, so you won't have to worry about those terrible accidents you've heard about on the news lately.

Like the first one, the mattress is able to slide in and out; making changing the sheets a snap. However, all the tiny gaps and spaces have been eliminated. The sliding drawer is also equipped with a lock to keep it securely in place. Safety first.

Finally, the new crib is not just a crib; it easily converts into a toddler bed by simply removing the front panel. Convenient yeah?

In summary, the new crib is safer, more convenient, more functional, smaller, and better looking than the first. What do you think? Please tell me. To the left, you will find a poll. As you know, Chrysler, along with every other American car company is tanking. Chrysler has some great stuff, but they have some other stuff that isn't so great. Take for example, the PT Cruiser. Whether you love it or hate it, you probably have an opinion about it.

I've been working on a campaign to help our American friend. And what better way to create buzz around a brand than to give consumers a voice? A real voice about real issues, not just comments left in the comment box. So let your voice be heard. Should Chrysler Save the PT or Kill the PT? If you've got Facebook, become a fan of a chosen side. Search for KILL_PT or SAVE_PT.

The Baby Project
Okay ladies, I need your help. I am working on a project to make motherhood more comfortable. So please tell me how to do it. Unfortunately, I can't fix morning sickness or labor pains (believe me, I wish I could). I am thinking more along the lines of cribs or changing tables; something that mothers use but wish it was more convenient, easier to use, or had multiple functions. In other words, what is the one tangible thing about motherhood you wish could be changed? Think of anything you want. Ask your friends, ask your family. I need all the ideas I can get!

She has created an interactive website full of creative ways to learn more about yourself and those you love. There are currently 70 creative assignments. Do you ever feel like you've hit a wall creatively? Try this trick: eliminate every cliche idea you have and go in the complete opposite direction. Take these REI ads for example. You'd probably expect a tough, outdoorsy approach right? Wrong. Creativity flourishes when your mind is open to new and sometimes seemingly crazy ideas.
